Thursday, August 21st, 2003, I bought myself one of my dream cars!
It's a 1977 Pontiac Trans-Am Firebird. Believe it or not, it was a one owner car before me! It's in great condition despite what you may think from viewing these photos.
The guy who sold it to me wanted 1000$ for it. It came as is, and also came with a shit load of spare parts that he had collected over the years.
Apparently the guy is sort of crazy, and a drunk. Cause he was drinking beer the entire time we talked about this car. He told me that he drives a truck for a living, and a few weeks ago he got pulled over. The guy seems to get a few beers in him, and can't resist to go out and hot-rod this car.
Well the cop was about to issue him 4 tickets. He asked the cop to cut him a break on one or two of them. So the cop did, cut him a break on the D.U.I. he would have gotten.
So this guy comes to the realization that he could lose his job if he gets another ticket. He'd loose his truck driving license which is his living.
So he puts the car up for sale for a very good price, 1000$
I cut the guy a deal, I traded him my Ford F-150 (that i bought for cable work back late last year for 400$) and I'd give him 400$ cash also.
He took my deal. The F-150 is gone, and this Trans-Am is now mine! I basically gave him 800$ for it.
And this Trans-Am is all sorts of badass!
This Trans-Am has a Pontiac 455 H.O. engine. 750 quad double pump carb.
It has a turbo 750 automatic transmission, with 4:11 gears, and a posi rear end! Dude had the car dyno tested a few months back, and its pushing nearly 400hp (373hp). With a few mods that I will make here in the near future it will be 400hp if not more!
Guy also showed me the Kil-Kare Speedway slips of this baby running high 11's. Thats badass on the quarter mile, trust me on that. Thats faster than a stock corvette if that tells you anything. He also claims that the front end will come off the ground, we'll see about that when I personally take it to Kil-Kare this Thursday!
The interior on this car isn't great, but it sure as hell isn't bad either. Its an all black leather interior. Back seats are in perfect condition, front seats have a couple of cuts in them. No big deal, thats what they make seat covers for!
Stearing wheel is a little loose, I'll tighten that no problem. All the gauges work except the m.p.h. gauge. Who needs to know how fast you're going anyways?
I like that it has a r.p.m. gauge, despite the fact its an automatic, I still like to manually shift it, especially if I'm racing. And having that r.p.m. gauge will help me even further in smoking some bitches out on the street or track!
Power windows, and power locks. Which I thought was weird, and didn't actually know that they had that stock back in 77. My 81 didn't have it cause my 81 wasn't a Trans-Am. The power windows & locks option came on the Trans-Ams only. Pretty cool to have, and cool that they work!
This car also has Crieger Rims all the way around! I love those rims, makes a muscle car look like it has even more muscle! With deep dish rims in the rear for the wider tires!
Over-all I am thrilled excited, and exxxtremly happy to have found this car, and to own this car. I will do many mods, I'll give this rust-free Pontiac a new paint-job soon, which will add so much to how this car looks! Below are some more pics of the stuff I've been talking about!
